AN ENVIRONMENTAL DREAM

This project, OSGDS, is a dream in which we want to become sustainable at ALS, will have better structures and better plants etc, for having a very green school. It's not easy but it is possible...

This dream is necesary because we had seen that many students and sometimes teachers, they throw trash to the groud and they don't  separate the trash. We are in the process of becoming sustainable. We have interviwed 10 people, 10% said that we are sustainable, 50% said that we are in the precess, and 50% said that we aren't sustainable. Most of the teachers are helping us for making this project realand having a better future in Abraham Lincoln School, with better persons and a better environment.

Our school had implement some campaings as the ''eco-bricks'' or ''re pilo con las pilas'' and other ones. This campaings at this moment they aren't respected and they don't accomplish with their objectives, with this dream we will have better educated people for making this campaings part of our process.

in conclusion with a big effort we will make this true and have a better future for Colombia and the world, also we recomend to other schools or companies to make part of this dream becoming sustainable, because it is possible...

THE GOD OF THE SEA

You think the ocean is always beautiful? Sometimes it can be very rude…

Poseidon is one of the sons of Cronos and Rea, Zeus and Hades are his brothers and also he’s known as ‘’the god of the sea’’ in in the Greek mythology.

When Poseidon born, Cronos heard that one of his sons was going to dethrone him, so he started eating all his sons but Rea didn’t want Cronos to do that, so Rea hide Poseidon in a group of lambs and she gave Cronos a lamb instead of Poseidon to end with his hunger. But there are more versions of this story that says that Poseidon was ate by Cronos and then Zeus arrive to save him taking him out from Cronos, making him ‘’The god of the sea’’.

He made his own palace under the sea full of corals and colored stones. He was accompanied by gods like Ponto, the Titans and Tetis. He used to like to take rides through the ocean in his carriage pulled by his horses. He wasn’t very peaceful sometimes he was very rude.

He had a confrontation with Athenea, goddess of the war, because both want the control of the city of Atenas. For having the agree of the citizens Poseidon place a waterhole but the water was salty. Then Athenea made grew up a big and indestructible olive tree that was the present that the citizens prefer the most, and Zeus had to let Athenea be the winner, which caused the fury of the god of the sea, with the risk of having tsunamis.

Poseidon was a very interesting god in the Greek mythology, that’s why I decided to research of him and now that I research, I know more of this god and I see that is more interesting now, than when I was only thinking to research him.

Of this god I learn things like when he was in fury he can make tsunamis and affect other people so I learn that my bad acts can affect others.

There are too many versions of this story, in this version is written that in a far past of more or less 200 years, in a little and hided village, some wizards and witches create a book named ‘’you’’ that had some predictions in it, so those wizards and witches read only one prediction for predicting the future of the village. They read, ‘’ in a book, the future and the past of all people in the entire world, will destroy all humans…..’’

With the past of the years all people of the village disappear and no one knows why. The book was changing according to the age where it was that was a modern age in 2025. The book became a movie and it was alone, until a person found the movie that was the book. That person didn’t want to see the movie because he wanted to see it with his friends, when he arrive to his house he let the movie in a table and he call his friends. He go to buy some food for watching the movie, but his friends wanted to play him a joke so they start watching the movie, so when he arrived he saw all his friends died sitting in the sofa  with the T.V. broken and the movie was disappeared.

The man went to the house of an old friend to pass the night there, because he didn’t want to pass the night at his home. He started telling his friend the story from when he discover the movie until the last night, his friend said that he had a strange connection with that movie and he started telling him the whole story and origins of the movie, that in the past it was a book.

His friend tell him that he was under a spell because he found the movie, so the man asked ‘’how can I get free from the spell?’’ and the old friend answered ‘’ you need to go to rent a movie in a Friday night, in any place where you can rent movies. At the moment you are in front of the place you will feel the most intense cold air of all your live, and then into the place you will start hearing voices near your ears. You will feel that the 3 seconds that you use getting into the place, are the largest seconds of all your life, then you need to go to the darkest and coldest corner of the place, you will hear the same voices but louder, in that corner at the moment that you see the box of the movie you will not have any other opportunity to go back, you will be attracted by the power of the movie, in the box you will see the tittle ‘’YOU’’ and your name written in blood at the bottom.

When you take the movie you need to go to the cash register, and the man will say you ‘’ oh that movie…..? Ok, good luck’’ and then go home.

At your home you need to turn off all the lights of the house, lock the room where you’re going to watch the movie and sit in a sofa. At the moment you put the movie in the T.V. you will start watching all your life from little to the death, when you start watching the part when you are sitting in the sofa watching the movie you need to turn off your T.V. and put the movie in a place where you can’t see it, for example in the closet or in a box, then go to sleep, when you wake up at the next morning you will see that the movie had disappeared, but if you continue watching the movie after you see yourself in the movie sitting in the sofa you will watch in the movie a monster going out from the T.V. and killing you, so please follow this instructions well’’.

Then the man say to the old friend ‘’thanks’’ and the old friend ended the conversation saying ‘’good luck……..’’

QUESTIONS-

1- WHAT IS YOR IDEA OF A SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL?

R/  For me, a sustainable school needs to be friendly with the environment having altern energy or sustainable ideas and also having a green mentality and a good display of the future taking into account the economic, social and environmental aspects.

2-GIVE A PROPOSAL TO ACCOMPLISH THE GOAL OF A GREEN SCHOOL?

R/ My proposal is my idea of using solar panels and having more green places and also using some special plants that where studied by some scientist of the nasa and they discover that this plants are good for absorbing harmful gases cleaning the air of any structure, Another proposal is to make sustainable structures that in the windows they have an angle where the sunlight is always getting inside the building.

3-WICH IDEA OF THE PRESENTATION DID YOU LIKE THE MOST AND HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

R/ I'd like the idea of the ECO-BRICKS because is very useful and it's friendly witth the environment and also it is cheap and eficient.
